[scode type="blue"]1.bang

(taboo, slang) (of a man 男性) to have sex with a woman

例句:

He's out banging other women over the head with a club.

[scode type="blue"]2.pry

vi.

If someone pries, they try to find out about someone else's private affairs, or look at their personal possessions.

例句:

①Don't pry into the affairs of others.

②"You should stop prying; you know, it's unlawful to read other people's letters!"

(If you pry something open or pry it away from a surface, you force it open or away from a surface.)

例如:

Her fingers itched to pry it open.

[scode type="blue"]3.off

adj.

If you say that someone's behaviour is a bit off, you mean that you find it unacceptable or wrong.

例句:

①It's a bit off expecting us to work on Sunday.

②Some of the dialogue is slightly off.

第一个是“不礼貌的,冷淡的”,(not polite or friendly)

例如:

He was a bit off with me this morning.

(If food has gone off, it tastes and smells bad because it is no longer fresh enough to be eaten.)

例如:

Don't eat that! It's mouldy. It's gone off!

[scode type="blue"]4.there are plenty of other fish in the sea

used to tell someone whose relationship has ended that there are many other people that they could have a relationship with.

例句:

Don't cry over Pierre - there are plenty more fish in the sea!

还有一个短语“there are plenty of pebbles on the beach”也可以表示一样的意思

[scode type="blue"]5.screw her

(taboo, slang) an offensive way of showing that you are annoyed or do not care about sb / sth

If someone screws someone else or if two people screw, they have sex together.

例句:

①Why? So you can screw more guys?

②You screwed him, and now I am.

①have a screw loose

②put the screws on sb

作为动词时,一个比较常见的意思是“拧上去”(to be attached by screwing)

①The bulb should just screw into the socket.

②The lid simply screws on.

screw up one's courage 鼓起勇气,相当于“pluck up one's courage”

[scode type="blue"]6.level with

If you level with someone, you tell them the truth and do not keep anything secret.

例句:

①I'll level with you. I'm no great detective. I've no training or anything.

②He has leveled with the American people about his role in the affair.

表达“直说、坦白”的地道表达还有“lay it on the line”
