[scode type="green"]I, I know where to lay
lie(撒谎)
She lied to her husband so she could meet her lover.
He lay awake watching her for a long time.
(这里用的表达是“lay down”,在麦克米伦词典中的解释是:lay down---- a way of saying ‘lie down’ that many people think is incorrect)
My canary has laid an egg.
[scode type="green"]Would've trade it all for you, there for you
“trade”作为动词,它常见的搭配是“trade A for B ”【If someone trades one thing for another or if two people trade things, they agree to exchange one thing for the other thing.】
They traded land for goods and money.
【If two people or groups trade something such as blows, insults, or jokes, they hit each other, insult each other, or tell each other jokes.】
例如:
Children would settle disputes by trading punches or insults in the schoolyard.
[scode type="green"]Now if I keep my eyes closed he looks just like you
【Close is used in the names of some streets in Britain.】
比如:
116 Dendridge Close
【A close competition or election is won or seems likely to be won by only a small amount.】
例如:
It's going to be very close.
【If you describe an event as a close shave, a close thing, or a close call, you mean that an accident or a disaster very nearly happened.】
例如:
You had a close shave , but you knew when you accepted this job that there would be risks.
[scode type="green"]But you've been replaced
supersede, 作为动词,可以表示“取代,替代(陈旧或令人不满意的事物) ”【If something is superseded by something newer, it is replaced because it has become old-fashioned or unacceptable.】
例如:
Hand tools are relics of the past that have now been superseded by the machine.
【If a person or thing is supplanted, another person or thing takes their place.】
例如:
He may be supplanted by a younger man.
